As far as I'm hoping at the moment, I'm going to be accepted to the DigiPen Institute of Technology, which in short is a video game college. New students in any of the art programs up there have to do a summer sketchbook project for the ART 101 class that they take first thing in Fall semester. So some of the basic requirements of the sketchbook are that you have to repeat these drawing exercises from this workbook 3 complete times, (Almost done with the first time through!) which takes..well, a while. And after that, you need to fill the rest of the sketchbook from drawings from observation.
It sounded simple enough until I looked at the sketchbook that I had to fill, which is almost 200 pages, and that each page has to have 4 drawings. D: It's a good thing I'm starting early, as far as what I think is early. With a project with this much work, I guess it's sorta hard to tell if I'm starting -too- early or not. It's a good thing that the observation drawings aren't meant to be fantastical, photographically rendered pieces of art.
So I guess it goes without saying that I'll be working on this for the next several weeks, provided I get accepted. If anything cool comes out I'll try to upload it when I get the chance.
Oh yeah, and a happy 4th of July to everyone. =] Be careful with all of the neat-o pyrotechnics that you're eager to play with. I always find it funny that everyone is also inadvertently celebrating my brother's birthday.
Devious Comments
What's funny is that I think that my old high school art teacher used to use the *exact* exercises in this book in her beginning drawing classes.
Here's an amazon link to the book if you're curious:

Apparently the author teaches an intensive 5 day drawing course with this book. The before/after drawings are craaazy. Some examples: [link]
