I was speechless when I first entered the Expo hall, where all of the company booths were, and where everyone was showing off their new games and demos. It was crazy. Never before have I seen so many video game related stuff in one building or room. I didn't really know where to start. Since Nintendo didn't really get my attention so well at E3, I wasn't really looking out for a certain game or demo at PAX, so I figured I'd just wander around and see what I'd get. The expo hall was pretty huge, so I had a lot of ground to cover, not to mention it was really easy to get lost in there. But eventually I think I managed to see everything in the expo hall. Excluding everything with really long lines of course.
Nintendo wasn't giving away a lot of swag, but I managed to get a bunch of posters from other games (some I probably won't be able to play) but they looked cool anyway. I picked up some wall scrolls too at the manga/anime booth, I've been looking for a Zelda or L wallscroll for a while. It was really painful getting those up on my wall, but they look so spiffy up there
When I got tired from walking around the expo hall, there was a rest spot on the 2nd floor of the convention center where there was some freeplay Rock Band.
One game that looked really good was the new Prince of Persia. I attended a live demo of it in the theater room. I know I saw the demo that E3 showed, but it looked better being right there, especially with a huge projection screen and with the killer audio. X3
I wasn't able to go to a lot of the other good demos that were there, mostly because of how crowded it was and how long the lines were. I only got to play a handful of demos really, some games more obscure than others. My brother said that Sunday was less crowded than Saturday, so the lines were much shorter, and even some of the consoles or PCs were empty. I was able to see some of the video game panels, one for designing MMO/Tabletop worlds and another for video game blogs, both of which were interesting and..informative? Maybe.
The last big thing I did before I left the con was the concert. X3 Really only two of the bands were that great, but I thought that if I was just going for one day, the concert had to be something I *could not* miss. Which reminds me, I gotta look up Anamanaguchi's stuff, who do some interesting 8-bit music. Them and the Minibosses, they 'metalize' old NES songs. I listened to the Minibosses' stuff before, but I really wanted to listen to them live. It was great.
At the end of the night, my ears were kinda shot, and I was dead tired. I was at PAX from 10 AM till 2 AM. The whole darn day.
Next year I'll have to plan more extensively so that I can stay all three days. Plus a camera. I really should've had a camera. Some pictures would've made for some great souvenirs. I also couldn't do one of Elizabeth's (Persona 3 character) Expo Hall quests. Basically I had to hunt down Mario with a camera. Which I lacked.
Ah, geez. This journal's gone too far.
